My Y2K vert is not a daily driver .....so I just use the key and the door lock switch.
My fobs need to be reprogrammed just about every time I go to use them.

I have, except the fob has a chip in the casing and the seal is exposed.

Thank you for watching out for us 8VETTE7!!

my Y2K *is* a daily driver and I got sick of using the key every day...being unable to open the trunk, manual locking etc. reprogramming every time, same issue as you.

I had bought a new OEM Y2K fob (expensive) several years ago after the originals both died. it lasted a while but now its been about a year since my latest fob started going out. even with reprogramming/relearning/battery replacing...that new fob kept losing sync.

I ended up putting in an aftermarket keyless entry for $40 and now my car works as it should once more. the range on the new system is much much further than the stock range was so I am very pleased.

here's what the new fob looks like

wiring wasn't difficult with the help of some forum members and a c5 diagram.

let me know if you want more details in case you want working fobs again.

That is correct sir. I needed new tpms as well, so it was the right choice for me.

I last time I looked at the conversion kit from Gene Kelley, there were some parts on back order. So I bought 4 new Tire sensors and had them installed with new tires about 3 years ago.

When my Tire sensors fail, I will probably buy the 01-04 conversion kit.

Not having a working remote is not a big deal to me.

Yes sir! Cheaper now than when I bought it too!

Amazon Amazon

It pops hatch and turns on interior lights. It flashes parking lights and honks the horn in use if you connect the lighting and horn leads,.

I'll get you more info shortly.
