Hi people, just bought a 2000 convertible with 41,000 miles. LS1 and auto trans, I want to do some engine internal up grades but I'm trying to find out what to keep and what upgrade,My goal is around 450 hp at the wheels with no forced induction. It is my daily driver so drivability is a must, the crank stays, rods? Rod bolts? What cam? Thanks for your input!

For 450 rwhp on an auto your going to need heads, cam, headers, fast intake and all the necessary parts to go with it, since it’s a daily driver the cam would be subjected to what you can live with, if your going with bigger stall ect, also auto’s dyno different than manual trans, converter locked, unlocked, stall will affect dyno numbers so would just build it how you want it and not worry as much about a certain number
....you are looking to pick up 150 to the wheels...a stock LS1 dynos right about 296-305rwhp stock..... from what I remember......
my 99 had a small blower cam, 243 heads, LT headers, borla stingers and a Maggie 112 with 10psi to put down 500/517 on a conservative tune...probably had another 50-75 if I went with methanol
point being.... to get to 450rwhp NA on a stock LS1 you are gonna have to go heads and pretty decent cam and headers....and a different intake
450 at the wheels with an auto works out to around 530-540 crank HP. That's a big number to keep NA and to maintain drivability.
I'm no engine builder, and at that power I'd think you'll need to contact one. I think, even if you do it yourself, it'll cost you more than a blower and be very rough around town.
