I'm gathering parts and talking to friends and figuring out this whole transformation of sorts that my car is undergoing currently.
One thing I am looking at having to do is clearance the bellhousing for the remote bleeder for the slave. This concerns me a bit with the cast aluminum bellhousing that comes stock in these cars. I want to make sure that under the stresses of what I plan to eventually do with this car I am not weakening it and risking failure.
I know QuickTime makes a bellhousing for these cars, and I don't mind spending the money, but what other options are there? I read in a post from back in 07 that RPM was going to be offering an SFI Bell for $375 shipped, but what ever happened to that? I can't seem to find any other info beyond that. Are there any options besides QT?
Why do you need to clearance the bellhousing for the remote bleeder?
Buddy of mine who purchased the same HOWE hydraulic throwout bearing I did and had to notch his bell housing out so the line coming off the slave wouldn't pinch. Oddly, I saw Cleetus McFarland had the same exact issue on Leroy recently too and looks like he has the same one also. I guess I could always return the HOWE and revert to a stock style RAM or Tick slave but I have been using HOWE stuff for so long on my other racecars and trust it.
Additionally, I want to protect my feet also lol If for some reason the clutch or flywheel were to come apart, I would like a little bit of insurance over a hunk of aluminum that you could break by dropping it off the back of a pickup.
I'm specifically looking for an SFI 6.1 Containment Bell. If Quartermaster is the only option, I'll buy it. Just didn't know if anyone else made one. I had seen in other threads that RPM was going to make one but don't know if that ever happened.
