Ned Help: Header Install causing O2 sensor problem
Shortly after the install, about 60 miles of driving, CHECK ENGINE light comes on. Take it back to the shop, run a scan, and tells us the O2 sensors are screwed.
The shop that did mine had to extend the wiring to one of the sensors.
The wiring melted, causing the error codes. Replace the O2 sensors and wiring. This was 2 days ago.
Now Check Engine light is coming back on for about 50 miles, then goes off for about 20 miles, now it is back on. This is what happened the first time around, when the error codes were reporting bad O2 sensor readings. I suspect the same thing now. Are the headers melting the wiring?
I'm just wondering if anything else could have gone wrong with the O2 sensors or wiring itself. Never had this problem before installing the headers.
