I just purchased what appeared to be a spotless 1999 C5. I drove the car home 1.5 hours with not the first issue. I then rinsed the car off due to the weather and on the way home started having gauge issues, reduced power warning, fuel gauge, etc... I checked the grounds under the hood near the headlights and they looked clean with no corrosion. I then pulled the battery, battery tray and noticed that this car has had the battery acid leak issue. I noticed there is a silver control module/ computer that sits right next to the frame rail which has some of the white powder from the acid on it. It appears that possibly one of the smaller wiring looms also has been hit by it. Is this the PCM?
Unfortunately, electrical is not my strong suit and I am truly at a loss of even where to begin. I have spoke to the seller who said he will assist in paying for repairs. Again, I just don't even know where to begin the diagnostic process to know what clean, fix, replace etc.... Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. I am already aware of the ground issues, BUS line (A pillar) and the door connections.
Start with a good battery with 120 reserve capacity and clean up the acid asap after that I would start checking codes .
I pulled all of the codes from the DIC and there were 47 total all with the H at the end of them which I was told is for history. Thank you for the reply.
