Re: Passenger side power window stopped working, HELP! (J99FRC)
J99FRC,
Keeping working the switch as you give the lower inside door panel sevral good shots with the heel of your hand. That has worked for many. If that gets it to working again, be sure to run it about every week...it has been said that inactivity will cause it to not work.
Re: Passenger side power window stopped working, HELP! (J99FRC)
Sometimes the littlest things can ruin a car's reputation and the owner's confidence. My passenger window stopped working Wednesday. I've banged it, slammed the door and kept working the switch until I thought I'd burnt it out. Finally, I called the dealer this morning for an appointment.
I do work the windows every day to let hot air out after sitting in the sun at work, so it is not that they haven't been exercised. But I like the looks of this car and I like driving it, so I guess I have to put up with some stupid aggravations of Chevy's lack of quality (don't make me list the problems of the 2 other C5's I've owned - they've had their share, especially the '98).

Re: Passenger side power window stopped working, HELP! (J99FRC)
I had this happen years ago, it turned out to be a window sensor that had failed. Funny thing is that the dash gauges all went to "0" even with the car running.
Take it to the dealship and let them fix it. Pounding on Body panels to make the window work is just going to break something else. :smash:
Re: Passenger side power window stopped working, HELP! (J99FRC)
Welcome to the club! This is a common feature of the C5! Sit back and enjoy it. If you insist on overriding this feature, you might try holding the down switch while you slam the door shut. I do mean SLAM it shut like you're really pissed off. This works for some stuck windows.
Whether you get it working or not, you WILL need a new power window motor/regulator assembly. Good luck!

I have a '98 that did the same thing, and this 'fix' worked just fine for me....happened about a year ago and has recurred since. Go figure....

Well, my motor is back up and running!! :smash:
Last time it happened my car was under warranty and let GM fix it.. but this most previous time I am out of warranty, so I fixed it!
All I did was pop the door panel off, remove the "black box" that has all the cables run to it, and pound the crap out of the lower door with my palm while pressing "up/down" on the control module and bang, it starting working again!! Happy camper once again!
