Since I bought my 2004 C5 back in September, the targa top has rattled on bumpy roads (as well as slight wind noise on the highway). Today I went about adjusting the targa top (using the GM instructions posted on here).
In adjusting, I ended up with the front (windshield) mounts pulled all the way down and the rear (pin mounts on the B-pillar) mounts a touch lower than they were. The end result is zero rattle, almost no wind noise and the lines on the window weather stripping now look "right" (everything flows). HOWEVER, looking at the leading edge of the targa panel, it's down below the "bulge" of the windshield weather stripping (which looks odd to me).
There's no binding and locking the top down does not take excessive force. The windshield weather stripping is new (replaced when I had the windshield replaced in October). Please look at the attached picture of tell me what you think?
Mine looks like that after adjustment, and I haven't adjusted all the way down yet. Still getting some squeaks, I think I need some dielectric grease on it or something.

Mine doesn't squeak (thankfully), it just rattled.
Over the years (on various vehicles) I've used dielectric grease, Adam's VRT and even plain old Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. They each have their advantages and disadvantages. If the rubber is new/ish, the VRT is really good as it keeps the rubber soft without making it messy. Both the dielectric grease and Vaseline seem to do better on old rubber, but they always leave a film.
My rubber is very old, most likely original, and wasn't garaged. It sat under a car cover, but I doubt that helped the rubber very much. It just does a lot of squeaking when driving over bumps and so on.

Whatever you do, don't buy the after market Weather stripping from Metro, its crap and you will regret it.
