Hey guys, I have a 1998 and one day did not start (just cranks). The battery was faulty (didn't leak) and replace it with a new one. With the new battery it don't start. Checked for DTC's and found P0601 and P1518. Also already verify all the grounds and check battery voltage at the underhood and interior fuses. Please give me your toughts. Could be the PCM or tha TAC?
I have the exact same issue in my 98 TA. How did you end up fixing it? I’m so frustrated with electrical problems and I don’t want to re-pin/0411 upgrade unless I have to.

Literally the the exact same issues. Had a bad battery and the car just cranks. It threw the code P0601, but nothing else and won’t fire. Fuel pump kicks on for a split second and that’s it. I’ve researched for weeks and found a few companies that fixed the 98 pcms in the past, but they told me just to repin it. I was hoping to find someone who found a way around repinning and upgrading the pcm but i’ve had no luck.

The 1601-1607 and a few others are PCM internal integrity issues...how about you pull the MAF sensor connector off and with a volt meter see if you have 5 volts on the YELLOW wire...key ON engine OFF !!...the “5 volt reference” is like the “blood supply of the PCM...see what you have...I’d also check PCM power and grounds.

If you want to check power and grounds at the PCM here are the pin outs below...use a voltmeter and it is best cranking when checking power and grounds...no drop more than .3 volt drop on power and ground since the car won’t start !!...the PCM might be TOAST but check it any way !!
