With encouragement from Forum members, especially Chuck, AKA 8VetteE7, I bypassed the GM dealership and local garages and had a friend who is a corporate pilot and A&P remove the EBCM from my 2001 C5. I sent it to AbSFixer and in addition to refurbishing also had a surge protector added. And, then my dear friend installed the new-improved EBCM....and low and behold all the error messages became a nuisance of the past! Thanks for all the support! My cost was $200.00 for the EBCM and a few dollars for shipping...sure beats what the alternative would have cost!

I was intermittently getting error code 1214, with messages...."Service ABS,Service Traction Control, Service Active Handling." That simply meant when those messages were displayed those systems were shut down. A friend removed the EBCM and I sent off to ABS fixer to fix and also put in a surge suppressor. Total cost was $200.00 for fixing the module and shipping total was about 36 dollars. When we put the module back in today all error messages have gone away. Sure makes driving that wonderful C5 more pleasant knowing those safety features are in tact.

Reason: too verbose

Yea I have the same issues and my also goes into limp mode, did that ever happen to yours ?
What was the turnaround time on the EBCM repair?
Thanks
ABS Fixer received the module late one afternoon...and the next day they fixed it and had it ready to be shipped. Shipping was about three days to get to them and about 4 or 5 coming back to me. The surge suppressor, I think, was a good idea.

if you are also getting code 1214 you can probably fix it fairly easy if you are mechanically inclined... basically there is a relay that is the culprit of the issue, either the relay is bad or the solder joints to the relay could be bad which happened to be the case on my car... you can open up the ebcm and replace or resolder the relay and a lot of times that will fix it... I resoldered my relay back in place maybe 3 years ago and the ebcm has been working fine since
