So swapping valve springs on the Z. Using compressed air method. I have cylinder 8 hooked up and when I use the Proform LS spring compressor it is compressing values and springs. The tool is only on the retianer but still opening valves as I tighten the removal tool. Using 60psi in cylinder. You can hear the air rush out of cylinder when I am compressing springs. Need some help.this is the first cylinder I am doing.
Thanks in advance

Wait, you're saying the valve is compressing when you try to compress the spring? That should not be happening. Make sure you are square on the spring retainer so that both sides are going down equally. Compress only the spring, then use a magnet to pluck out the keepers. The air sound should not change. Suggest changing the valve seals while you are in there.
Thanks everyone for your help. I have the passenger side done. It looks like the drivers side has even less room to work. Thinking of using TDC method as I am not sure how I will get the air tool on #7. Any tips for making the drivers side easier?

I'm guessing you still have the air injection pipes?... it's much easier to do plugs and get your compressed air tool into the plug hole with that stuff out of the way
