Default Stock Brake Caliper Bleeder Leak

Been a while since I've been on the forum.

I ran into a problem with a real slow leak on my driver's front brake caliper where the stock bleeder valve is leaking. I tried tightening it but didn't want to over torque it (anyone know the torque specs).
Wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue.
If so, did simply replacing the bleeder fix the problem and does anyone have the stock bleeder part number?

Thank you!

You can get replacement bleeders at any auto parts store.
Where is it weeping from, threads or the orifice ?

It is hard to tell since the spinning wheel tends to throw the brake fluid around. I'm assuming the threads (and not the orifice) since I've torqued the bleeder down pretty well.

Thank you,

Thank you,
something may have be causing the bleeder not to seat, hopefully no damage to the seat.

Replace with a speed bleeder and wrap the threads with Teflon tape.
Should do the trick. Get back to us.

NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Bleeder valves do not seal with the threads. They are NOT a taper threaded fitting!! DO NOT USE TEFLON TAPE!

The bleeder valve seats with the taper portion on the bottom of the bleeder and that taper seats on an exact angle taper inside the brake caliper.

I recommend purchasing a NEW bleeder valve and see if it seals properly. If a replacement bleeder doesn't resolve the leak and you wanted to SAVE your brake caliper, you could remove it, disassemble it and try to reseat the new bleeder taper and caliper fitting taper using some medium valve lapping compound. It will take a LOT of loosening and tightening but you may be able to save it..

Look at the taper face inside the caliper and see if it damaged.

Bill
