After putting in some Phillips 9012 low beam bulbs I finally got around to adjusting my headlights tonight... they were way off from awhile back when I jacked them up. I got the low beams to a point I was pretty satisfied with them. On the way home I turned on my high beams and they were way up in the trees, far enough upwards to where the road wasn't lit at all pretty much. I have checked and all four bulbs are seated properly. Now obviously I have my housings up too much but the low beams are at a point now that if I adjusted them downwards any they would be too low I believe.. I'm confused how there is such a difference. May not be able to tell much but here are two pics, high beam and low beam, on my garage door. My driveway is not level, the car is sitting on a slight incline in the pics. Any suggestions?
At least they'll be great for coon hunting. Did you adjust your lows to where the top edge of the hot spots were about 3" below the horizontal centerline of your headlights at 25'?

That they would! But No I didn't and thats probably where the problem is. When at 25ft away I could not see the hot spots on the wall so it was kind of a guess. In the pics I posted you can see the hot spots very well but at 25ft away on the wall I was using it was just scattered light with no indication of where the hot spots were. You could see the high beam spots well but not the lows. Not sure why but yoi could only see them when closer to the wall.
The OEM headlamps on my '02 were the same way If I adjusted the low beams to where they were OK to see, the high beams were about 6' high at 20 yards. I also checked to make sure the bulbs were properly installed.
The OEM headlamp housing is a one piece molding and the high and low beams cannot be adjusted separately. I would up buying a new HID headlight assembly from The Radio Flyer, a CF Supporting Vendor. This was a complete kit, including new housings. The new housings were molded correctly and after the install, I found that the beam alignment was perfect.
The HID upgrade was very well worth the cost as the light output was higher, better focused, and the light was a much higher color temperature than the stock bulbs. Yes, the price is high, but this kit works

yeah I agree with going with the projector housings but that will be sometime in the future, it's not really in the budget right now. As for now I am going to have to try and make the stock housings work
Low beams are supposed to be set low to prevent blinding other drivers. The pattern should be spread further forward on the right side of the road and about 3/4 of that distance on the left side. If you are going 60 mph you should feel like you are over driving the lights. That is when the high beams come into play. When you have the high beams on they should light the road surface equally as far as the light will carry. You want them reaching really far out. See the attached PDF file for the C5 headlight aiming process.
