Can I use ANY 2001+ key fobs or must they be from the car where I get the receiver? Finally, what is the technical name of the receiver for the TPMS and key fobs?
That is a lot of expense and monkeying around to go through Vs pushing the reset button when you start the car. How long does it take to push the reset button? 2 seconds? The C5 TPMS only provides a warning on the DIC so once you hit the reset button the warning is gone until you start the engine again.

Just another F--kup by the electrical designers having a pot party when then designed the C5.

They would never wake-up and the system would use the last valid reading

Yup, the sensors won't transmit and long enough with the car rolling without a sensor signal will cause sensor codes.

There was a used parts seller that sold used Z06 modules to a few forum members who were upgrading their early model car to the newer sensors and fobs. When they installed the module there was no ability to program the tire pressure sensors. One member tried to switch the TPMS on with their TechII and there was no setting. So, the RCDLR works with the BCM somehow to turn the TPMS on and off. No 01-04 BCM means no ability to change the setting no matter what RCDLR is installed.

Any 01-04 fob can work because you can program the fob to the car.

The C5 sensors have to be rotating to transmit so putting them in a storage compartment or putting them in an aired up tube in a storage compartment doesn't work.

Great explanation and very clear. Thanks!
