My blk 2000's headlight covers rubbed in rear of covers against hood.....now looks like my 99 might have same problem....anyone else encounter this? Any TSB's or fixes known????
There may well be a very easy fix here. Each of those covers is easily removed, and there is an adjustment under it.
Here's a how-to I wrote on installing European headlights: http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c5/ste...all__ver3.html. Steps 1a-3d will get the covers off. Steps 5a-5d show four screws. If you loosen them, you can then move around the bracket that was holding the covers in place. So, loosen the screws just a little, so that there still is some force required to move the black bracket that the screws were holding; next, set the cover on top of the bracket and move it until its centered with a good gap all around it. Then lift the cover off and re-tighten the screws. Then re-attach the cover.
Thanks for the help guys.....adjusted them..they may be to foward now...but better than rubbing......here is a question...I can not remember if my 2000 had a rain guard that was attached to hood and dropped behind headlights.....the 99 I just bought does not...am I missing em????
with the hood closed look back at the windshield where the hood meets the fender, it should meet the conture (sp) of the fender. If it don't then you will have to move it. There are 4 bolts on the bracket that bolts to the frame horn 2 on each side.
sorry but I don't know anything about a rain guard.
