Question for you I want to put on an aftermarket exhaust and a cold air intake system. A buddy of mine is saying if I do that I have to tune the car and change the on board computer to reflex the change in airflow. Is this correct or am I ok without doing any changes ? Thanks !!!😄
If you have an auto it is well worth it! They tune out all the lag out of the transmission. It is night and day after I got mine. The tuner at aikman tuning here in austin did street tune /dyno tune the street tune well worth the $500.00

So you got a lot out of the dyno tune......You all stock or any powertrain/exhaust mods?

I would go with C6Z manifolds over shorties. I have posted links to topics on the swap in the past. It will require a trip to the local muffler shop or some welding on your own. Solid gains with OEM parts.
A cut air lid or zip tie mod with the C6Z manifolds is a great couple mods for those that don't want to go into the engine and OEM reliability. Z06 Tis for mufflers and you have a nice upgrade without resonance. A tune would be nice to get the last bit of power but not required.

True the Z06 manifolds are pretty much shorty headers. I bought the BBK due to ceramic coating and a complete drop in. I did this all recovering from knee surgery. I have seen some horror stories on long tube installs and then the issues of starter replacement or possible burned wire and trip to get welded up. The biggest issue with the 97-99 as was told to me by tuner is the heads hold these cars back. Mine is a daily driver and have no other wish to mod the performance any more.

I have had long tube on 2 cars, go with a quality header such as Kooks or ARH and the install should be relatively easy, no welding, burning wires is attention to detail on the install in my experience, never replaced a starter. A friend's car who I work on has had long tubes for over 100k miles never replaced the starter.
