Carbon Vortex front splitter install
Part arrived with no holes drilled, and part flanges overbuilt. However, I believe the outboard edges of the mounting flanges are supposed to line up with the stock holes for the air dam, and the CF shrink rate has shrunken the part (inboard on both sides) just shy of being able to use those holes.
I see photos of the splitter being run with all 3 air dam pieces installed, and heard you need to cut the center of the splitter, but not the outboard edges, and I would REALLY like to refrain from cutting more off of this thing.
I've searched high and low for a detailed writeup or even useful photos of other people's installs, but havent found anything. Freaking out over here about cutting/ drilling into the splitter and fascia with no useful reference whatsoever. Any photos or insight is GREATLY appreciated!!
I bought one of those cheap urethane ones so that it didn`t hang down too low.
Basically, just a flat piece of urethane that bolted up to the holes on the side where the stock dam goes.
Then it gets screws along the front edge.
My car has a 2-row radiator and it`s a stock set-up.
Sitting still was not a problem here in Texas heat.
It would get to about 210-215 with the AC on .
It was when moving down the highway that it wouldn`t recover even in 85 degree weather.
It would actually run a bit warmer, closer to 220.
Mind you, this splitter only hangs down about 3/4" to 1"
It does jut out about 1-1/2" from where the stock bumper curls under the car but I think that alone created enough
turbulence to account for the higher temps.
I removed the splitter and now at 98 degree weather with an extended run my car will still cool to about 199-203 going down the highway.
