Default Vandalized mirror: repair options?

I came out to find the situation below this morning. Seems like a really weird bit of vandalism, but there it is. Is the mirror removable and they just took it, or is this broken? If just the mirror, can I replace it? If it's broken, can I replace the guts or do I need to replace the whole unit?

Thanks!

That looks to me like someone thought they needed it more than you did. The marks on the left side were caused by whatever they slid in behind the mirror to pry it out. Then the connectors for the electrochromatic mirror were disconnected.

Unfortunately you are missing the jack screws that feed into the adjuster motors. I believe the two posts that are remaining are the memory feature.

The glass is easily obtained - I just replaced mine a few months ago but only went with heated memory - skipped the auto dimming because the glass was $125 as opposed to nearly $400. I needed it quick, I'm sure you can get the new GM glass for under $100 if you have time. If there's any justice, he will have broken the seal on the mirror and his new steal will be junk.

I used a heated glass pn 12530715 - msrp 149.22 and dealer sold it for 129.76. It came with the backing plate attached and just snapped into the housing. I put dielectric grease into the auto dim plug, sealed it in a little piece of a baggie with a zip tie and tucked it in behind the wires like it was never there.

If you go with the auto dimming mirror there are special instructions to install it so you don't break the seal on the glass.

I was in a hurry but you can get them cheaper at GM Parts Direct and Amazon. It physically fits all C5s

Also - check out this thread - another guy was down the missing jack screw path and found they are common across many cars. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ack-screw.html

The pics below are grabs but clearly show what you are missing.

Somebody had a "parts order" to fill. No corvette vendor sells the jackscrews, you will have to go used, try VetteNuts, but be prepared to purchase an entire mirror.
Or if you have the time; I would think that just about any GM vehicle that has power mirrors would have the jackscrews, so you might be able to walk through a Pic-A-Part and find something.

Good luck.

Thanks, folks - much appreciated. I guess I feel a bit better (?) about the "vandalism" in a way - couldn't really figure out why someone would do what they did.

Searching around a bit and trying to sort the options - are there any other than memory and the "light sensitive" feature, which I assume means the electro-luminescent feature? I want to be dang sure I get the right part given the prices I'm seeing...

Well, I found a junkyard mirror with the DD0 option complete for $185...so I'm hoping this all works.

Need to figure out the process to "index" the screws, etc. to replace them...

How did the mirror repair go with the one you found at the junkyard?

The mirror arrived and the mirror itself was in good condition. Still fighting the actual installation; the jackscrews need to snap into the back of the mirror and need to be positioned correctly and at the right height.

Working on it today, actually

Challenge is the top jackscrew; I can get the center to snap and the horizontal jackscrew, but the top always misses. I am kinda following the Froggy video, but still having problems.

I imagine there's a trick here I'm missing ;-)
