I need help to diagnose this engine issue
To close this thread out properly, and to allow another chance to say thank you to those that helped, I wanted to provide an update on what I saw after digging into the problem further. Maybe it will help some of the other novices, like me.
See photos.
Spark Plug Wires #7 and 8 were trashed. Corroded away.
And Spark plugs #5 and #7 were cracked. (I lost plug #2 under the car and will have to find and review it later
). I frankly don't know what caused the plugs to crack like that, but it was definitely time for a new set.
After replacing everything with MSD Super Conductor Wires and AC Delco Iridium plugs, she fired right up and problem solved. No lugging, no misfires. Just wheelspin in gears 1 and 2!

For reference, I talked to a GM dealership and another local Corvette Shop. They both wanted $570-$600 to swap the plugs and wires.
I was able to get it done for $175 in the best parts I could find, and about $40 bucks in tools that I needed (that I can use again), and a couple of busted knuckles. I'll gladly put the $380 into my pocket, thank you very much. It took me about 4 hours total. But literally half of that was spent just on Plug #7 which is the hardest one to get to, and I struggled to get it out and to replace back in. Anyway, I'm a novice and glad that I was able to get it done!
Thanks again to everyone who helped diagnose this problem and get MIDNIGHT back on the road. Now she just needs a bath!
