Default Best clutch for a C5

I need to replace my clutch and was wondering whats out there, lets say my Vette will never be over 500 hp and no track use. Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

I like my Level2 Monster after one season. Nice engagement. No chatter. Only slightly heavier than stock pedal. Good to 550 tq. Works fine with the factory master cylinder.

Really depends on a couple factors: How much you want to spend, do you want stock feel, do you care about chatter, power goals. I chose the ls7 clutch kit, feels pretty close to stock, it is a little heavy though. Ive heard great things for the Mantic er2 as well.

The 500 HP becomes the deciding factor, if you are talking the engine HP then a stock Z06 clutch will work well, if you are talking RWHP then you need a more beefier clutch with the ls7 being in the middle of both worlds. According to the club members who work at the proving grounds in 2002, they found the Z06 engine only lost about 12% engine to rear wheel.

I just put a Monster stage 2 in mine and with the ease of install and the way it feels, it gets my vote.

It came in a nice package, well laid out with all the stuff needed. It feels nice in the car with great engagement and no loose feeling to it. No shimming needed either so made install a snap.

IIRC it's supposed to be a LS7 clutch competitor.

I’m going to revive this thread, as I was also wondering the same thing.
Edit: Except for the 500 hp and track thing. I want a clutch that can handle a supercharger and a cam. And moderate tracking.

Current or expected rear wheel hp & torque play a big role on which clutch suggestions are worth an opinion. Also the intended use of the car and preferred driving experience/ characteristics preferences.

I’m not saying this is the “best” clutch setup…I just put a new flywheel, clutch, and slave in my 99 and am just starting to break it in. I can’t speak to performance or longevity quite yet. However the fit was perfect with no shimming required. I did have the flywheel, clutch, and bolts zero balanced and it’s smooth as silk. I also did many other things while it was tore down.
