Hi Everyone I have a 2000 Corvette, when I start the car Service Vehicle Soon appears, I was just at the deal they checked for codes nothing. they cleared but as soon I turn off the car and turn it back on it shows up again any ideas what can be. I got the car last week the previous owner told me that he changed the battery the week before then he took that battery back out and put another one in. think that did it?
Pull the codes via the DIC (google or check the stickys) and post them on here and you will get plenty of help.
before I went to the dealer yesterday to get the belt replaced I checked for codes and got these
28-TCS C1286 H C
BO-RFA U1096 H
BO-RFA U1064 H
BO-RFA U1016 H
I don't believe the 1286 will set off a service light (C1286 Steering Sensor Bias Malfunction).
The other codes are related to the battery being disconnected. See if 8Vette7 chimes in. He's an expert at codes.
The C1286 code is setting off the warning. That is the steering wheel positioning sensor going out. They are not available any more for the 2000 and earlier cars. You might be able to find a used one but they are getting very expensive if you do. Try Marc at vettenuts He may still have some.

thank you very much ,
do you really think that is what's causing the Service Vehicle Soon problem?

The would be the #1.2 & 3 cause of the C1286 code, a remote possibility is the steering rack was disconnected during an alignment and was reattached 360 deg out. On the 97-00 models you can test the SWPS (steering wheel position sensor) with a VOM. The middle blue wire should show about 2.4V when tested, if it is around 0-1v or 4-5V that would be the problem. It normally shows up in another code but on rare occasions it will show that C1286. If the TC/AH light shows up it definitely is the SWPS.
