Default Clutch recommendations

Just picked up another car. Dyno'd 425whp. Currently has a stock clutch in it. Not sure how long it's going to last. Will be DD and probably go to the track a handful of times this year. Looking for recommendations from personal use. My last car had a monster stage 3. It was fine driving around town but at the track it was inconsistent. Heavy pedal and engagement window was only about an inch. So it was hard to slip. Looking for something that easier to launch. Thanks in advance.

I just got the RST installed and I love it! Drives better than stock.

I dunno about launches, but I use the Tick Performance LS7 clutch kit on my LS6 track car. It works well.

Did some research. RST seems popular. Doesn't come with a flywheel though. Which flywheel is good? Who's got a good price on this clutch? Thanks.

Somebody local is selling an RXT with resurfaced stock flywheel. Just says for 26 spline T56. Will that work or is it car specific?

I would run our LT1-S Street twin. Its rated for more power, and we rate it for abuse, unlike the RST.

Also the LT1-S is usually cheaper, with three times the warranty.

I have an lt1s sitting here to be installed in my 470rwhp heads cam car. Wanted room to grow with stock like driveability. OEM clutch disks should be ideal for what I'm looking for.

you can order a flywheel from McLeod or just get yours re-surfaced...

I've had 6 cars with McLeod clutches in them from street twins down to the RST... the clutch is never an issue.. but they will find the weak point in your drivetrain.... LOL!

the mustang is getting a new RXT 1200 here shortly....

Very happy with the Monster Level 2 that I just had installed. Slightly more pedal effort than stack and good for up 550 ft/lbs of torgue.

Out of curiosity, does you competitor Mantic, also rate clutches that way?

Default Clutch

Just installed a LT1-S myself over the winter .Holds great and the pedal effort is minimal . And the cost isn’t much more than a level 3 single(it’s what I replaced).
Thanks Monster.

They don't explicitly say that you can not use their units for the track like McLeod states, on the RST.

However they have started to phase out their single discs, in the US.

Also they do rate their units like everyone else, with theoretical flywheel TQ.

I also have the LT1-S with light weight flywheel. Installed over a year ago. Has been flawless, as you would expect. Steve is a good guy to deal with.

Ima order the monster clutch. Any benefit from light weight flywheel. Seems to be a toss up about it. I DD this car and track it 4 or 5 times a year. Who has the best price right now? Thanks
