Default CHE Trunion Upgrade

I ordered these from Scoggins Dickey and the new design is awesome and a easy install anyone that is mechanically inclined should be able to do this in about 2HRS. Once you press out your old needle bearings. Take the new trunions dip them in clean motor oil slide them into the rocker arms install the bushings on both sides with lip on bearing facing to the outside of the rocker arm and install c clips. Man I didn't think it would be that easy!

When the pressed in end of the rockers decide (at random) to pop loose, it spreads those little needle bearing all over your engine.
So , Using a mechanical means -circlips on both sides- will hold them
in place (but in most cases, the KIT will use a bushing instead of needle bearings)

Whenever you install a high lift cam at high rpms you run the risk of the stock rocker arm bearings coming apart. Then scattering needle bearings into the heads. They usually collect in the paths of least resistance. Some times they are found left in the heads and in the oil pan. I did not want to run the risk of failure. So a little bit of insurance goes a long way. This trunion upgrade is per manufacturer for up to .660 lift up to 8500 rpms. If you have any questions about the materials they are made of call CHE in California and ask for Claude.

I just had this done to mine yesterday. I had the Brian Tooley kit put in... not sure if they are the same as what you have. My motor is stock, I see it as cheap insurance like replacing factory valve springs on the 02-03 cars.

I also did CHE trunnion upgrade. Look at it.like this. With needle bearings...over time, only a certain amount of needles get worn out cause only some of them take all the load...

I think besides the material CHE, straub and BTR, are similar in design. I did however notice that the CHE had what looks to be oil channels cut into the trunions and bushings inside and on the outside between the bushing and rocker arm. I can only assume that this was done to keep everything well lubricated.

Very nice. Definitely worth doing.

I made an installation video a little while back when I installed my Straub kit. Might be helpful for anyone new to this or looking to do their own installation.

Nice video! I did notice that the straub bushings has to be pressed in and I know from the CHE design the bushings slide in perfect no pressing involved very user friendly.
