DIC and DIC switch problems

DIC and DIC switch problems
I was about ready to dig into the connectors in the door pillars when a new problem developed with the DIC. Here's what's going on:
1. The reset switch does nothing when it's pressed. Tried pressing hard and pressing numerous times quickly - never does anything,
2. Occasionally the DIC will operate normally (display things and respond to button presses for everything except the reset) but the reset still does not work,
3. Sometimes it's a black screen and sometimes it will automatically display messages that I know aren't correct (for example Service TPMS).
Is it possible that all of these problems can be explained by the door pillar issue that Bill Curlee did a great job describing, could it be the DIC switch panel, or could it be the connector problem and the DIC switch panel? Does anyone know of a trouble shooting procedure for the DIC, the service manual seems to be silent on troubleshooting these problems.
