Hi All, I’ve been battling a very intermittent issue with my C5, during aggressive driving sometimes the car will just pop up with “reduced engine power” mode and if I pull the codes there are none present! This has happened repeatedly at the road corse on the tightest corner on the track, but it has also happened on the straight from a standing start at the top of 2nd... I’m thinking it might be bad grounding, or a sensor coming unplugged or loose, has anyone run into this before and can someone let me know all the possible causes that will produce the reduced engine power mode.
I know someone who bought a c5 with that issue and it turned out that the maf sensor and map sensor were not agreeing with each other. When he removed the MAF it was running smoothly. He ended up getting a new MAF and MAP sensor.

In response to your original question, there are a rather large variety of circumstances that will potentially cause the "Reduced Engine Power" message to display. Many of them are usually due to issues with modules and connections on the car having shorted, damaged, or weak connections and can range even further to items such as grounds and the ignition switch. Near all of these instances however should be throwing DIC stored codes, so even if you cannot immediately see anything it's advisable to perform the DIC reset procedure then attempt to recreate the situation.
Bill Curlee has a pretty good thread on performing some good initial steps to isolating the "Reduced Engine Power" message.
My vehicle had other modes "pop up" as well intermittently. Then my DIC was acting erratically at times. My neighbor is a chevy mechanic....and he asked if my ignition switch was ever changed, since the c5 are famous for the switches needing to be replaced. I found a great thread here on the forum how to change it step by step. When I took the old one out I couldn't believe how black and corroded the terminals were. I haven't had any codes since then! Again, this was my situation....yours could be different. Search the threads on ignition switches though. Good Luck!!
