Default Seat forward/back motor

Where can I find a new motor that moves the seat forward and back and does anyone here know how to remove it properly? The power seat motors are not even mentioned in the service manuals.

I believe it is the motor directly under the front of the seat but cannot find any info on replacing or removing it to get it repaired. In my case it will move back but not forward so I would think I could take it to an electric motor repair facility or even possibly swap it with my passenger seat one which does work properly. Regardless I would like to know how to remove and replace it.

Thanks.

The motors are considered part of the slider assembly and the service manual would probably suggest replacement of the entire assembly. The motor in the front is the one that moves the seat forward and back. The motor is pretty easy to remove once the seat is removed and turned over. Just a couple screws and electrical connectors. But, I would think that if it moves at all, it isn't a motor problem. Sounds more like the switch or the control module to me. The relays in the control module can go bad and not get the power to the motor in a certain direction.

I too suspected the switch but after replacing it with a new one it still will not move forward. Do you know where to find a new control module then?

Probably one in the parts section or off ebay? Make sure that it is for the same kind of seat set-up that you have now (memory or non-memory) it makes a difference. Not sure if the sport seats have a different motion control module from the standard seats? There should be a code on the module you have now. Get one with the same code. I opted to replace the bad relay in mine. It was a bit of a pain, but MUCH cheaper.

Thank you. That is the exact module as mine but mine is not showing any broken solder points.

I noticed someone there mentioned swapping with the one in their passenger seat that is working properly so maybe I will try that.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds it aggravating that the manufacturer does not provide an alternative to manually move the seat in case of electronic failure. They mentioned something in the service manual about pulling the cables out of the motor and attaching them to a drill but the description lacking a diagram does not make sense especially with the seat still in the car.

It doesn't have to be a bad solder joint. It's possibly a burnt contact inside the relay. that was my problem. Checking it with the passenger seat module should let you know for sure.

Jeez, after I removed the module I noticed one wire was dangling outside of its connector. I soldered it back together, plugged it in and Voila! I now have forward motion again.
