Hey all,
I just finished my clutch install along with ECS tranny brace and remote bleeder with a Mantic 9000 twin disc clutch. Also did a new rear main and pilot bearing.
I have a Tick master, but cannot install it on the lift, so i plugged the new slave to the old master just to get the car out and drive a bit before finding a nice day to do the Tick master install..
Install was a pain in the ***, but its done. When i started the car on my lift, i noticed that while being in neutral, rear tires are spinning around 50 rpm. I can stop them from turning with one hand. Also, i noticed reverse is very hard to get into. Shifter goes to the right, but i really gotta use some muscle to get it in. The other problem is that i hear clunking from the throw out bearing(i assume) sounds like when it was stock and you shut off the car without depressing the clutch, just not nearly as loud.
Any ideas guys? It was a lot of work i just wanna drive the damn bitch!
Yes it's not your shifter but your throw out bearing adjustment--It is too tight--and won't disengage your clutch-----Check with the manufacturer of your clutch and throw out bearing and confirm that the clearance id within specs----
Also you need to BLEED the clutch of all air bubbles prior to driving just like brakes

yeah, do the shifter alignment first and then install the tick... once adjusted properly that will allow the slave to extend far enough to disengage the clutch
I just finished bleeding the clutch. I tried going into reverse with car on and its a little easier then before. I didn't drive it, just tried backing up a bit.
Will try the shifter alignment and report back with results.
you don't really need that tool, an allen wrench will work just fine
No the alignment tool sets the shift rod and box in alignment. with out it there are an infinitesimal number of positions. If the rod and box aren't just right it's hard to find reverse.

you can use the tightest fitting allen wrench you can fit to line those holes up, I've been doing that for years and it works perfectly... I have an older mgw though, maybe they changed something on the newer ones

Do you just have the shifter or the shifter box also?
I watched froggys how to video, but i don't seem to fully understand. I did this when i installed the shifter, is it possible it moved? Or is it just because i unbolted the shifter rod?

I had to abbandone Tick Master install after realizing the driver side header needs to either come off or be loosened/dropped down.
This is the first time i try to jack up the vette outdoors. I normally put it on my two post lift for all maintenance projects. I need to figure out how to get the car high enough to loosen X pipe and header while being able to fully open door.
So, if anyone is trying to replace a stock master cylinder and has long.tube headers, calculate more time than needed to do this job.
