Default Driver's side mirror issue

Whenever I use my remote to unlock the car, the driver side mirror starts moving around and always ends up in the wrong position. It's not a memory issue because I would manually move the mirror in the correct position then save the setting but it keeps moving.

I tried searching for this issue but couldn't find anything similar. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

You may be using the wrong key fob for the wrong settings. Each fob has its own settings for driver 1 and driver 2.

I had the same issue with the mirrors even after turning off all the auto stuff in the DIC. So now I just use my key to unlock the car. Problem solved.

I considered that but unfortunately, that's not the case.

I just started using my key as well to unlock the door. But there has to be a fix for this!

Did you try unplugging the battery for an hour or so and let everything reset? Just a thought.

I've read that it has to do with the potentiometers in the mirror for the position feedback. I don't have a link to the thread, but it was on here somewhere. Basically, they get "contamination build-up" on them and give "false" location readings. The fix is to remove the mirror glass and move the potentiometers in and out by hand to remove the build-up. Not sure how well that works as I have never done it. I would think that a contact cleaner would work really well, but I don't know how that would affect the other parts inside the motor housing. I need to change my mirror glass pretty soon and will try it then.

edit: found the fix thread - link

Yes, I've tried that directly, because I had to change out my battery not long ago.
