Default Delete/Remove Mirror Memory Function?

How do I delete/completely remove the memory mirror functionality from a 2004 C5 Corvette? I want to convert it to non-memory (just standard power) mirrors.

I would imagine that it could be turned off with a Tech2, but I'm not positive.

Every time I open the car with the FOB, my drivers' mirror would move. The only way I found to stop this from happening is not to use the unlock function on the FOB. I just use the key.

Why is it that the most simple questions are the hardest to get an answer on? I have to believe someone has deleted the memory mirror setup on these cars.

Why don't you just unplug the power to them?

Wouldn't they move to where they should be if you saved the memory settings to the fob? The seat and steering wheel would move as well. Just trying to understand why the mirrors are being called out separately.

Because then I loose the ability to adjust the mirrors at all.

Not if the mirror module is bad...

My understanding is that memory mirrors have 2 plugs . One for the power function and one for the memory. Unplug the memory one.

When I first read your post, I assumed you were replacing your mirrors and didn't want to spend the extra coin on mirrors with the memory function. It now seems the the real reason for your question was to eliminate the need to re-adjust your mirrors every time you get in the car. I was in another thread last night talking about the same situation and put a link in one of my posts to another thread that may benefit you to read. That thread is here - link.

Exactly. My mirror motors work fine, but the memory function of the passenger's side mirror is flaking out. So every time I unlock, the passenger's mirror hunts all over the place. My problem is due to the little potentiometer plungers coming un-clipped from the glass backing (they simply will not stay long term). So rather than spend a lot of money to replace a "working" mirror motor, I'd be just as happy to delete the memory function and have it not cause problems. I'm the only person who ever drives my car, so I want to set my mirror position and leave it (but still have the option to adjust if need be).

Thanks for posting. I read that months ago and gave that a try. The spray works really well at cleaning up the potentiometers, however as my issue is the potentiometer plungers coming un-clipped (rather than the electrical contact of the potentiometer acting up), I don't have a good cure for my issue.

Is it a problem with the "cup" on the back of the mirror glass or the "ball" on the pots? The mirror glass assy. isn't very expensive (relatively speaking) to replace unless you have the auto-dimming feature. But you don't necessarily have to replace it with that style just because you have that option. I still think your best bet is to "remove" that function with a Tech2, but I don't know if it will affect "all" memory functions. You should send Bill Curlee a message, he probably could tell you definitively.

Can the memory function be removed with a Tech2? I've already converted the vehicle to manual seat rails, so the mirror memory is the only memory function left (that I know of).

I don't have a Tech2, but I recall that if the BCM is replaced, a Tech2 is required to "re-program" the new BCM for all of the RPO codes/functions in the car. I'm pretty sure Bill has one and has probably used it for tinkering around in the options settings on his car.
