I tried to post before but it seems to have gotten lost somewhere so if it shows up I apologize in advance. Looking at the top picture of the heat shield. The hole in the upper left is attached to a large push pin located by the fuse block close to the passenger side fender. The tab with the hole in it on the upper right attaches to a push pin located on the passenger side of the windshield wiper cowling. The tab goes underneath the cowl. You can feel the pin under the cowling. The tab on the bottom goes into the top of a screw that attaches ground wires to the frame between the engine and battery area. If you get the shield in properly the holes should almost line themselves up. As far as the lower picture, I can't help you with that one as I don't have one of those on my car but it looks like it wraps around the battery somehow. It's hard to tell as the photo is fuzzy.

Yep, that’s correct. I have a link to the GM site that shows every part
that is used and where it goes. I posted the link but can’t get it to work here.
After looking it becomes obvious as to how it all goes together.
The Tray insulator is the foam rubber part I was talking about. That's the lower picture that's fuzzy. I had to copy it and couldn't get the picture sharp.
Why everybody doesn’t have all of this stuff is beyond me.
This is the link I'm talking about that i can't get to work.
I figured it out and was at the point to just wiggle it around and bolt everything tightly down.
THEN I DROPED THE SOCKET WRENCH INTO THE HOLE TO HELL!!!!!
TOOK ABOUT 1 HOUR OF REMOVING THE BATTERY, LOOKING EVERYWHERE WITH A HIGH POWERED FLASHLIGHT………THEN FOUND IT.
Just replacing a battery turned into a total nightmare

Dam if you do not hear it hit the ground. It's a nightmare to find. Congrats
I have only had one other tool fall into the twilight zone. I thought I could hear where it landed, no such luck.
I Had to buy a telescopic magnet devise to find it. I couldn’t find the magnet devise today!!!!!!
As far as little things they may change;
I knew a guy that had a 99 with little changes in the engine layout.
His had the Location for the oil dip strip for instance. Mine has a place in the hood liner that is cut out to match the weather stripping on mine
