Cooling question ? Hope someone can help...
Here's what I have noticed... When I turn off air the temperature gauge will climb to 220 and a little above if sitting in traffic and then when you get rolling it will come back down to about 180 which is the normal temp.
If I turn on Air the temperature gauge will never get over about 190 even sitting in traffic.
Today I was driving down town with Air off and noticed guage climbing again so I turned on the Air and temp started dropping.
Is my gauge gone nuts ? or maybe fan is not kicking in unless Air is on ? or
do I need to drink a beer ?
Help, warranty runs out on time limit next month although only 14,000 miles.
Also installed the Magnaflow X-pipe and Borla Stingers this morning. Yow, what a sound !! Engine seems to be run a lot smoother also.

This is a wild guess but I believe the radiator fan is always on when the AC is. It is also, I believe supposed to kick on when the temp hits 190. It appears that the radiator fan is not being activated by the ccoolant temperatur sensor or whatever software is supposed to be doing that. I hope somebody else can give you a more definitive answer.
It does get worrysome, seeing temperature climb so high while sitting in traffic, but aluminum block and synthetic oil "likes/tolorates" these temperatures.

This is completely normal... Nothing to worry about here.

But while we are talking about cooling get under the car and see how much junk has made it to the top of that slanted radiator. Also between the radiator and air conditioning compressor.
