Default DIC Buttons do not work

The DIC buttons started to fail about a year ago and I have been trying to figure out if I need to find a new DIC button panel or if there are other issues I should address. Basically, if I hit any DIC button, nothing happens. The reset, options, or any other button do not work so I can’t even see any codes to help further troubleshoot. All I see is the mileage on the DIC which was a last change I was able to make. I have disconnected the battery a couple times when I had some sensor errors on the DIC and this at least reset the DIC so I could see the mileage. I have searched the web for any help on troubleshooting the issue and have had no luck…any advice would be appreciated.

I switched that part out around a year ago. But my problem was that the lights were flickering, the buttons still worked.

The DIC switch was about $70 on fleabay if I remember correctly. Then a couple hours of my time to get the cluster out so I could make the swap. There are some really good instructions on how to remove the gauge cluster floating around on CF that were put together by an extinct business called Vette Essentials. Edit, found em’ - https://web.archive.org/web/20070128...zel_howto.html

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem... Swapped out buttons and still nothing..
The cluster itself was bad... Once I put new cluster all works perfect now... If it is not your buttons that are bad I would suspect the cluster itself...

Thanks,

Ant,,,

OK...color me stupid but are we talking the entire instrument cluster? have any good links on "how to" and how long it takes to fight yourself to take it out vs taking it to a shop? Seems if I am going to pull the instrument panel I might want to replace a few other things while I am at it and probably pissed because it was so painful. I will take any recommendations on other things I should do if I'm swapping out the instrument panel and DIC button.

thanks

Yes,
The entire gauge cluster... you can put your buttons on the new gauge cluster.. Your buttons are probably good... It's not hard to do.. I think there are videos on YouTube on how to do it... Took me 30 min when I did mine...

Good luck,

Ant....

looking for companies that will rebuild the cluster and seem to be running in to a short fall. Any recommendations

Mechanic has the cluster out and had it returned by two companies already.
