Question about swapping tranny fluid...
I was going to do a swap on my gearbox fluid this week. I don't have the jacking pucks yet or for that matter any wood for jacking the whole rear end. Is it possibly to back a non-lowered C5 up the Rhino ramps without the front end scraping? I don't care too much if the spoiler scrapes, I just don't want the painted part to scrape.
Also, with the butt in the air, can you drain all the fluid, or does it need to be level? I haven't looked to see where the drain plug is.
I just want to be prepared...if I need to I'll get a 2x6 and jack the whole backend.

Plug is in the rear on the passenger side of the tranny. When you drain, if anything, you wanted it slanted back. Fill with car level. Mine was slightly angles and I ended up 1/2 quart low. Ended up putting the car up a second time.

Thanks...that's what I was afraid of... Is it possible to get to it without jacking the car? Sounds like I might need to go ahead and buy the 2x6's and some additional jack stands..
Re: Question about swapping tranny fluid... (jreed99)
I used jack stands so that I could get the car level when in the air. You need to be able to crawl under the car and reach part way up the side of the transmission to open the filler plug. So I needed a fair amount of space between the car and the ground to do this. BTW, you need a fluid pump to be able to pump the fluid up into the transmission. You pump it in until it starts running out the fill hole. The manual said you need 4 quarts, but I like many here, could only get 3 1/2 quarts in. Perhaps not all the original fluid drains out easily.

Best way to get car raised and level (without a lift) is to use 4 Rhino Ramps. Pull up on front ones and jack up on back ones. Very safe too !
Most auto stores sell a cheap oil pump, its under $5. I used one that screwed on to Mobil 1 quart oil containers.
Synthetic makes for easier cold weather shifting. Some say it makes normal shifting easier too.
This is what I did and I had plenty of room to maneauver around underneath. I used Amsoil synthetic and a fluid transfer pump I bought online from Mityvac. I also took the opportunity to install a magnetic plug.
