Default 03 Z06 - Incorrect ABS intervention

During spirited driving, I often find that the ABS activates when not needed - causing a major and not expected increase in braking distance. When driving through a winding road at speed, it will often interfer coming out of a corner and braking in preparation for the next - especially if there are bumps (even small ones). New tyres, dry roads, high temperature. For anyone having experience with early Subaru WRX/STis, it behaves almost the same (braking over bumps would leave you with the ABS chattering and no retardation until reapplying the brakes). Stock brakes, new fluid and StopTech brake pads.

No error codes.

I've pulled codes, but not immediately after the symptoms. There are no active/intermittent/history codes. Stock wheel and sizes, and there are no lights on the dash. WIth the system behaving as expected, the DIC displays "ABS active" or "active handling" - but not during these unexpected ABS activations.
