Back up lights stay on.

I recently got my C 5 out of winter storage. naturally, the battery was dead. Replaced with new battery, but noticed that the backup lights don't turn off. Tried to turn off by removing fuse, but that didn't even work. I removed bulbs as a temporary fix so I don't drain battery, but my PA inspection is due and I think I need the backup lights to be functioning to pass inspection. I know the dealer will charge an arm and leg to diagnose and repair. Any suggestions that I can look for.

Can't say, but first thing I'd try is disconnect battery for a bit. Old school thinking

Reverse light switch just screws into the trans, try replacing it. Maybe it's internally stuck on.
