Default hard shifting m6 lately.....

recently had my trans. fluid changed and was shifting like butter, took it to a show sat, and it was difficult getting it in and out of gear, so being the cheapo that i am i already cut the shifter down.. so i removed the ****, and boot.... pulled the rubber inner boot away, and sprayed screw loose close to shaft with the little red straw.... wow what a difference. we will see how long it lasts....

Sounds like you need your shifter aligned.

I'm confused. And curious. Particularly since my shift is less than optimum.
You cut the factory shifter down? After the shift got difficult or before? Does "sprayed screw loose close to shaft with the little red straw" mean WD-40 or similar applied to a particular screw?

no i made it into a short throw by cutting down the shaft a few mos. ago. but recently , yesterday it got hard to shift so i sprayed it with a lubricant, and now it shifts great...

Well that certainly reads appropriate. I can not for the life of me imagine how I missed the thread. How's your stock of boxes?

Maybe my car needs this, sometimes it takes lots of muscle to get it into 1st, sometimes 2nd too or it grinds/and or pops out gear on 2nd.

I know I need a clutch slave and might as well do a clutch job while apart.

Was thinking maybe the transmission needs some work, but could a worn box cause any of these symptoms?

What your experiencing is what about 75% of my customers say. I was having the same trouble, with my 99 at about 70,000 miles and it cleared it right up. If it doesn't fix your troubles you will at least know that you do need some hard parts fixed internally, but you'll also never have to worry about your box for the life of the car.
