Electrical System Mostly Dead - Steering Lock Stays Locked
I usually keep my Convertible covered, but for the last 2 weeks I have not. I only drive it occasionally and It has rained a lot. Today, when starting, the battery was weak and needed a boost fm my portable booster. Once connected it fired up instantly. When on my short drive I noticed the drivers side floor was really wet. The passenger side was totally dry. Stopped at the business I was visiting, and when I came back out to go home it started immediately. Once home I started a cig outlet powered fan and wet/dry vac'ed the floor the best I could. I also kept it on a battery charger. A few hours later I went out to put the windows up fearing more rain. Turn the key, gauges look normal except it say low on gas - it is not, the HVAC blower does blow, radio doesn't work, windows won't go up, trunk release doesn't work, won't turnover - does even click, the under the hood light is not on (it was on when I first boosted it for my drive). Oh, and the steering does not unlock - I have an uninstalled LMC5 and the LMC5 Unlocker.
I found one of the driver side drain utters was really clogged. It is now cleared
I reinstalled the battery and is like something "reset." The under the hood light is now on, steering wheel is unlocked, and the engine now turns over and fires a about 1 second and then dies. DIC error messages of "reduced power", "check tire pressure", "service soon"
Long over due update. I had it towed to the dealer. They found that the water leak had corroded a wiring harness under the drivers seat. They cut the harness connectors out and the hard wired the connections. About 20 dollars in parts but 8 hours of shop labor. All is good now.
