C5 shifting
I left home and everything was fine; however, when I started back home, the shifter would not go into 1st, 3rd or reverse. I had 2nd, 4th, 5th and sixth as normal. I will appreciate any information as to why this is happening.

I don't know where my mind was when I posted without any information. The car is a model year 1999 that I took delivery of in 1998. It is as delivered from the factory with approximately 23,000 miles. The miles have been spread out over the years. The car has not been driven hard. I have noticed for some time that if 1st gear was not firmly engaged, the shifter would jump back out of gear. Any information will be appreciated.
