Default Best Replacement Tires?

The stock tires have seen better days, and I am looking at suggestions on a complete set of new tires. Assuming I go with the stock setup 245/45/17 and 275/40/18, I was leaning towards the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2's. Discount tire has them for $116.50 for the fronts shipped and $156.31 for the rears. Any other suggestions for street-ability, random auto-cross, spirited driving?

Thanks!

I went with the Firestone Firehawk. It's considered a budge performance tire, but I could not be more please with them.
Purchased at TireRack.

Several members have spoken highly of the Ventus V12 Evo 2s; and, we've had great results with Discount Tire so you appear to be headed on a good path.
Personally, we use Michelin Run Flats ( ), but we also do longer trips and following a head-on 1 1/2 years ago (guy doing approx 100mph running from LEO), I don't enjoy too many "on the ground" activities.

Oh,, While you are changing tires, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND looking at your shocks and alignment. What Suspension do you have now???

If you have stock shocks, and you have over 30,000 miles on them, they are most likely TOAST! Recommend the C6 ZO6 shocks for improved handling. If you want better shocks and a smooth ride, get the C6 Z-51 Shocks. Bolt right in no MODS!

New tires really need a good 4 wheel alignment! Makes a BIG difference in ride and tire wear!

the hankook v12 evo2's are great, I run them on the front of my car and I'm on the 3rd set on my daily driver... they don't last too long for me on my daily but they are inexpensive so I have no complaints, you get good traction and sacrifice overall life... hankook often offers rebates on their tires so you can save even more

Bill- I appreciate the feedback. I already put in a call to Gene at Cultrag. Looking into the C6 ZO6 shocks plus upgrading sway bars. Greatly appreciated!

Right now the list is: Upgrade shocks and sway bars, in the process of ordering tires(still undecided), looking at doing the anti venom mod, plus possibly going with the upgraded 13 C6 shifter (coming from a s2000 my c5 base is much too notchy). Also, the car is bone stone. I would like to actually hear the LS1 exhaust note. I am still researching axel-backs. Corsa, Borla, BB, etc. for the appropriate tone and what I want to achieve down the road.

Thanks!

So far 2 votes hankook, 2 votes for the firestone indy 500's, looking in the pilot super sports, but i don't want to spend that much

Take a look at Bridgestone RE 760 Sport. I purchased them and am really impressed with the stiff sidewalls. They handle better than the Continentals. I purchased the Continentals for my wife's Mustang GT and am disappointed at the soft sidewalls.
Good luck.

Are the Indy 500's run flats?
I really don't feel to good about going without the run flats on a car without a spare.

Where in PA are you from?

Here's my write-up on the Nitto NT555 G2s:

I like the Nitto NT555 G2s. The price was right on Amazon(....yes Amazon sells tires. Who knew?)

There are basically no 200TW tires in stock C5 sizes so fun tires are out. The NT555s were mediocre at autocross. They just don't have the same grip level as something Like a BFG Rival so I pretty much got my butt kicked last season......

In addition to autocross the car made two long trips- one from PA to the NCM in Kentucky and one from PA to the Outer Banks NC. They are excellent highway tires and very good in the rain. There were a couple sections on the PA turnpike where I hit standing water at night that should have been more scary than it was. On the old Pilot Sports (still legal tread but were ~6yrs old) I would probably have been upside down in a ditch...

Wear has been good with a season of autocross and an handful of long trips but I don't have enough miles on them to have a good opinion. I'm not really concerned with longevity that much.

I'm not really sure about tire noise. They sound fine to me and are much quieter than the old Pilot Sports (again- they were 6 years old when removed) but I'm not really sure what "quiet" tires even sound like. I haven't had anything less grippy than a "ultra high performance" tire on any of my cars including my wife's daily for years.... except snow tires. My wife's 2 month old 2018 Civic has some crappy all seasons on it now and I swear they are louder then the Nittos on the C5...

I just bought the same tires from Amazon, $556.90 for all four. Will be here Friday/tomorrow and will have them installed on Monday. Will follow up after a few months of use. They look nice, got really good reviews and the price is right. Good luck on the search.

I wish I could find some tires for that price on the z06. They don't have factory sizes and the rear tires are twice the price of what everyone mentioned aboved.

Thats a good deal! I found a reputable shop that will mount and balance all 4 of the Ventus V12 EVO 2's for $700 OTD. Best I could find in my area. I am going later today.
