Default Cooling 441 Stroker

Hey guys.

Cooling question here. I currently live in Florida, and one day i left the car idling in the middle of the day with the AC on and my coolant temps got to around 230 with my oil to 250!!! This engine seems to run a bit warmer than the LS6 it replaced. What have you C5 guys done to cool off larger displacement/higher output engines? The current engine is an LS7 based 441 stroker, N/a.

I have a smaller displacement stroker, but making some good power. It has stock radiator, Meziere electric HD water pump and a 180 degree themostat. Can idle in traffic with AC on and stays cool.

The 180 thermostat did nothing, other than make it take longer to get hot. I believe the stock tune makes both electric fans come on at about 228. That may be your biggest problem. Turn the first fan on at a cooler temp and turn both fans on at a much cooler temp. 180 and 200 maybe.

What system and fan tuning do you have?

Not sure on the pump, will have to look up the part number. I have not looked to see where the tuner set the fans to come on. I have HP Tuners so I can change it. What are your oil temps? Mine seem to be pretty high, 230-240 during normal operation. I have not really beat on it to see what it gets up to under "spirited driving".

Normal driving, 220 - 230, plus or minus. Oil temp at 230-240 does not sound high at all, especially at your coolant temps.
