When I checked my rear end oil level a sucking sound was heard as I took the plug out.
Is there a breather that can get clogged ?
Is this normal?
It sounded like opening a can of tennis *****.

You checked your rear end, heard a sucking sound...like opening tennis *****.... hmmm... I'd suggest seeing a proctologist, if your HMO will allow...

Yes,it is normal :yesnod: Dont ask me how,but the C5 rear end creates a vacuum  Some mistake the noise for the diff being under pressure :yesnod:
The vent must have a check valve on it then such that when it heats up it will vent but during the cooling cycle the air can't be drawn back in. Anyone seen the vent and what it looks like? Interesting :yesnod:
I recently changed my fluids and removed the fill plug first. The very same noise from mine!! There has to be a check in the vent - it couldn't be wide open to the atmosphere or there would be moisture problems I would think.
yes there is a vent tube on top of the housing on the driver side, if you remove the cap there is a little spring under it.
I removed mine and put a tubing extension with a loop in it.
