This is a reoccurring problem. At one point I thought it to be electrical or a faulty battery. However, it has a new battery now and will start every time, it will idle or rev like normal, but when I shift into gear, throttle up, roll off the clutch, the car starts to move forward then --- it dies. I even try to save it by slamming the clutch back down and hitting the gas but almost always the rpms just fall away and it stalls.

LOL! Fun isn't it. You are experiencing the 2 MPH Fuel cut off. Its caused by a COLUMN LOCK ISSUE! Very common! Have you seen a message in the DIC that says (PULL KEY WAIT 10 SECs) ????
You really should read and post all the DTCs. The problem that you are seeing WILL set a DTC. That's the only way for us to be sure that we are guiding you in the correct direction.

Once we have the DTC info, and we are positive that the column lock issue is causing you all the problems, you will be directed to purchase a LCM-5 Column Lock By Pass module and installing it (plug and play) Its easy as pie)
Then you will never have to deal with this again.
WHAT year C5 and is it an AUTO or Manual??

Thanks for your time Bill - yes I did indeed see that message (PULL KEY WAIT 10 SECS) . It broke down in the city so I had to get CAA (Canadian AAA) to tow it. The frustrating this is - I had dropped the car for an emissions test last week and everything was fine. While at the garage they called me saying some Steering Lock issue came up and charged me almost $400. The car drove fine twice then this hassle started on a downtown Toronto street.
I sent it back to the same garage - is there a link I could send the mechanic regarding installation of this LCM-5 Column Lock By Pass module?

The module is easy to install. WHY,,,,,,,, did they charge you $400.????????????????????? What the heck did they say that they did to your car for that price. Was it a Chevy dealer?
