Well, the check engine light came on so I pulled my codes and got P0171 Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1 and P0174 Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2. Since this Vette is 14 yrs old I took it to a shop thinking I might need new hoses. Well, they looked at the car and said for some reason they could not read the codes and that they would need it for a few days. Of course, I left with my ride to do more research, but then realized I'd have to bring it back. When I brought it back and they reran the codes, just about every feature was throwing a code WHAT!!!??? Totally do not understand why it went from 2 codes (actually 1since one was H) to many codes, and now they say it will cost me $1250 to replace the air mass sensor and 2 check valves. I know the one valve is easy to replace and the other on the passenger side is difficult to replace, but my question is - does this seem like a reasonable price for this work? I am due for a smog test so need to get this fix. Just wondering and any advice will be appreciated. My ride is a 2004 coupe with Vortex S/C and cat-back exhaust system. (my s/c is street legal and I have the sticker clearly visible.) TIA for any help.
LOL!! RUN FOREST,,,RUN!!! Give me a call and we can talk you through this.
It would be a very good idea to read and POST ALL THE DTCs so others can chime in.
" Just about every feature was throwing a code" doesn't really tell us much.
