Engine noise coming from a C5 2002
I have a high pitch sound coming from the engine area on startup and when running on my C5 2002 Corvette. When accelerating from an idle I also hear a little higher than normal squeal (like 2 pieces of metal rubbing together). I took the car to the dealership and they said the alternator was functioning ok but was creating a high pitch noise. They also said the idler arm either needed tightening, replacement or lubrication with white lithium grease. Another problem they said was the noise could also be the beginning of deterioration of the catalytic converter.
I was wondering if you fellas would concur with these findings or could it be something different?
I do value your input
In addition how do you search the c5 corvette forum for specific items of interest
Example: Looking for articles on the idler arm /pulley vs tensioner pulley. Are the one and the same or different?
How to replace the alternator due to a high pitch sound
Thank you for your input
