I recently purchased this car and have only driven it about 500 miles. At times the pedal will stick about half way up from the floor and I need to pull it back up with the top of my foot. I also have a problem with the clutch engaging near the floor. There are times that I sit at a light and then when I let up on the clutch it is starting to engage immediately and not about half way up, as is usuall with this car. The scarry part is if I sit for a while, with the clutch depressed it will actually start to slightly engage and the clutch is depressed almost all of the way to the floor, the car is actually starting to move forward.
If anyone can provide any insight for this problem, I would GREATLY appreciate it.
You have a leak somewhere in the hydraulics. If you are not losing fluid, the leak is internal to the master cylinder. If losing fluid, look near the rear of the engine (slave cylinder) or both sides of the fire wall near the master cylinder. Sometimes the master cylinder will leak into the driver's footwell.
Sounds to me like you need a master cylinder. This is good because it is less expensive to replace.
I AGREE!! You should plan on replacing the master cylinder.
Is your clutch Stock OEM or aftermarket? How many miles on the car?
The master Cylinder is the least intrusive, cost effective and relatively easy to replace. Start there and see what that gets you. You may end up having to replace the slave but, make small steps first..
Look into the master cylinder reservoir and see what the condition of the fluid is. Bet ya its black and nasty. If you replace the master, I recommend doing a complete clutch hydraulic system bleed and fluid refresh.
