2003 Z06 - Does anyone know the specs for adjusting the drivers window angle/height, etc. to get the best seal against the window perimeter seal? I've had my door apart several times adjusting this and the window will seal for a week or so, then it's almost like the rubber seal fatigues and loses its sealing ability. It's not really leaking water unless I pound it with a water hose stream, but I'm getting wind noise at speeds of about 50-60 mph and up. The air leak is about half way up the A-pillar, no leaks anywhere else on that window. While driving, I can push in with my finger a little at the seal in this point and the noise goes away. I've tried to compare the driver's side glass to the passenger side glass (which has a perfect seal), and I just can't seem to find the right combo of glass height/angle versus tension against the seal. I can't adjust the height any higher because the glass is nearly hitting the metal retainer at the top of the frame when I close the door. The window track adjustments aren't coming loose and allowing changes. The weather strip itself looks perfect, and I've double checked that the metal/plastic trim holding the weatherstrip is adjusted where it should be. These windows can be adjusted forward/backward, up/down, and a good range of angles tipped in, and I'm trying to make sure I've done all I can before shelling out for a $400+ seal.
I fought wind and water leaks for awhile on the passenger side.
I even took my 03 vert to the dealer to adjust the window and watched them do it.
Still didn't fix it. 80 bucks down the hole.
I finally went to Harbor Freight and bought a 4" suction cup and took off the door panel and loosened the two bolts holding the window glass in place. I gently shut the door and moved the window with the suction cup to where it fit the seals all the way around. Opened the door and tightened up the bolts and put the panel back on.
It fixed it!!!
No more leaks or wind noise at all! It's been a few months now and still good.
Good luck!
