Default C5 Vacuum Leak

My 2004 has a huge vacuum leak that appears to be under the valley cover. There is a hose connecting the back of the throttle body to a metal pipe attached to the top front of the valley cover. What's connected to the valley cover requiring intake vacuum?

Thought the LS6 had that valley cover but my 2004 has it too. According to what I've read, there should be an orifice to control the suction but I am losing a lot of vacuum through it.
