My passenger side headlamp door got damaged (has a crack). I bought a new one and had it painted to match. Now I can't figure out how to get the old one off. I removed 3 phillips head screws from the right side (facing the car) and 2 torx screws from the rear of the door. Seems with those removed it should just lift off - it doesn't. I didn't want to force it being afraid I could damage something.
You need to remove the black plastic bezel that's kept in place with 3 Phillips screws and then remove the "4" torx screws that hold the top painted cover. It seems you are missing "2" of the torx screws that are hidden by the black bezel.
When you do remove all four torx bolts and put the new headlight door on put the bolts on but install them enough to not be tight. Lower the headlight door manually with the control **** and slide the door until you get it's alignment to where you want. Then tighten the two rear torx bolts. Raise it back up, reinstall the other two torx, then reinstall the bezel.
Also, ensure the underside of the door still has the metal jam tab. The bezel is supposed to slide between it and the headlight door and if the bezel is broken or the jam tab missing it can make the bezel rattle.
It shouldn't have any height issues in relation to the other panels, but if it does you can adjust the closed height of the door with the four nylon adjustment bolts, one on each corner. If one side of the door sits a little high or low that the other corners then remove the door and adjust that bolt, perform all the above, until you get the door where you want it.
It sounds like a lot first time doing it but headlight doors are pretty easy to mess with.
