Engine Rattles and wont turn off
I have a 00 Vette and when I start the car the engine has a terrible 'metal rattle'. Further, when I turn the key to the off position the engine doesn't completely turn off, but rather lugs along at a low idle struggling to stay on. Only by revving the engine near 5-6000 RPM can I get the rattle to stop and then the engine purrs. Please help!

I have only use 91 Premium fuel always. Also as for timing, wouldn't it still persist after I rev the engine high? After i rev the engine high, it stops immediately and i can drive around all day without a problem, but when started cold it comes back. I should mention that the previous owner has an aftermarket air intake on it but appears to be for looks without much "mechanical " change.

The running while turning the car off sounds like an octane issue to me. I would try octane booster and I’m sure you’ve checked all essential wires and sensor connections. I’d even check fuses before tearing valve covers off.
