Default Dreaded vaccum line leaks

Short version - I need to replace at least two of the vacuum lines that run beneath the battery because they were damaged by battery acid. I have the service manual for tracing the lines but can't find a supplier for replacement tubing. What have others with the same issue used to replace defective vacuum tubing?

The black plastic tubing is 5/32" nylon air brake tubing. It's fairly common, maybe even available locally at an industrial hydraulic/pneumatic shop. MettleAir makes a nice assortment of fittings and adapters; I used one to fix the one behind my intake manifold: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...nd-intake.html

I got some of the nylon air brake tubing from O'Reilly's a while back. The guy couldn't find it in there system so he just gave it to me.

My local auto parts store carries hard plastic vacuum tubing. I got mine there.

While addressing the same problem you've got, I found I needed to replace the line going from the back of the intake down to the vacuum canister inside the fender. That's for the HVAC. Also, that then comes back around there and goes into the wiring harness passing through the firewall into the passenger compartment. That is hard plastic and with a tiny bit of grease on that tube, and a reasonably sharp angle to get it started, I was able to push that through and make the connection to the vacuum actuator under the dash in there.

Then, the vacuum canister and vacuum brake (a y fitting) inside the fender almost certainly need replaced. They get all brittle and leak. Yours might not be there yet but if it's original it's on borrowed time. They're not much money. The vacuum canister might be salvageable but that brake Y fitting is junk and should be replaced asap. You'll know when that's broke because you won't have HVAC direction doors working any more.

Good luck!
