Default Under-drive pulley ?'s

I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to replace my current crankshaft balancer (harmonic dampener). Mine has a slight wobble to it. I decided to take the opportunity to install an under-drive pulley. If you have one why did you choose the one you have? Anything I should be aware of regarding the APS or MTI pulleys? One better quality then the other?

Thanks, Keith in AZ :flag

I heard that there were balancing concerns with the ASP pulleys and that they are constantly on backorder.

Are there other companies out there that make underdrive pulleys for C5s?

Nate, how much does the ASP pulley kit go for?

I have ASP, no issues. Just research the installation. I had trouble getting the old bolt loose. And having to remove the steering & tie rods was a PITA.

Hey as long as your gonna be down there changing the pully you might as well pin the crank with the new one. Just incase you decide to SC later that step will already be done and save you a butt load of time later.

Keying the pulley is a good idea, especially if you decide to add a buch of HP at some point.

UD pulley is a great mod IMHO.

Obviously, I haven't run this yet since I have to button my h/c job up next weekend but I installed the ASP pulley today, modified for the Rollmaster dual chain, which I also installed today. The "A" dimension in the picture is what needs to be modified to use the RollMaster. In the first pic, you can see my starting and finish lines on the pulley and bolt to torque properly to 140 degrees.

I thought it's normal for the stock one to have a slight wobble to it.

I started an earlier thread asking people if their crankshaft balancer had a wobble as I observed mine to have.
Everybody that responded said wobble = bad news waiting to happen. Just installed the ASP under-drive pulley. I now have zero wobble.

Whatevery you do, DO NOT BUY FROM "C5 PERFORMANCE" These guys lied to me about several things: First, I tried to buy the MTI pulley from them and they told me that ASP makes the pulley (which is true), but that ASP wasn't making them at that time and/or they were on backorder (not true). I ordered direct from ASP and not only did I get the pulley within days from the order, I saved $$.

These guys lie about other things too, I bought a ported t-body from these guys (C5 Performance). I took them several weeks for them to order the t-body from HallTech, get the t-body, and then send it to me. I paid a couple hundred for a core charge. They apparently do not stock anything - they apparently just order from HallTech and/or Breathless, after you send them your money. I installed the ported t-body and sent the core back - THEY REFUSED MY PACKAGE AND DID NOT REFUND MY CORE CHARGE.

I have other issues with these guys - they agreed to give me a refund on an NX unopened kit, providing I buy a bunch of other things from them. I did my part, they did not do their part.

In short, DO NOT BUY FROM C5 Performance - they lied to me and are TERRIBLE BUSINESSMEN - I have called them several times (they have caller i.d.), they don't call back. I have e-mailed them several times, they don't respond.

THERE IS A REASON THEY ARE NOT VENDORS ON THIS FORUM :mad :mad :mad
